Empowering Civic Engagement: Salesia Smith-Gordon Moderates Judicial Forum
Salesia Smith-Gordon, Esq., and Paul Shalhoub, Esq., co-moderated a lively County Court Judicial Forum featuring candidates Jean Marie Middleton and Lourdes Casanova. The event took place via Zoom and was hosted by the Palm Beach County Justice Association. Several other bar associations, including the Palm Beach County Sheree Davis Cunningham Black Women Lawyers Association, collaborated in organizing this forum.
The purpose of the forum was clear: to give voters a chance to meet the candidates, understand their qualifications, and learn about their plans for the County Court. During the session, both candidates shared insights into their professional experiences and explained their goals for serving the community.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, making the session highly interactive. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of each candidate’s vision and approach to addressing community issues. This level of engagement helped reinforce the importance of transparency in judicial elections.
Moreover, the forum emphasized the value of informed voting. It encouraged civic participation by allowing voters to hear directly from the individuals running for office. Legal professionals and organizations worked together to create an event that empowered voters with essential information.
In conclusion, the County Court Judicial Forum succeeded in fostering dialogue and transparency. By bringing together candidates, voters, and legal organizations, the event promoted an informed and engaged electorate. Such efforts demonstrate the critical role of collaboration in strengthening democratic processes.
