Biden’s choice of Brown Jackson for Supreme Court wins praise from new group for Black women lawyers

WEST PALM BEACH — President Joe Biden’s choice for the Supreme Court — federal appeals court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson — came a day after dozens of Black women lawyers in Palm Beach County announced the formation of an association aimed at supporting women of color who practice law.
Sia Baker-Barnes had gotten used to being the only Black woman lawyer in the courtroom after more than 20 years on the job. After 2020, she began to speak out about struggles she faced doing her work. Jackson, she said, is someone she can look up to.
